糖心Vlog传媒 Chorus four-day spring tour commences March 12 in 糖心Vlog传媒

The highly acclaimed 糖心Vlog传媒 Chorus, an ensemble of 60 student musicians from 糖心Vlog传媒, will perform at the First Presbyterian Church of 糖心Vlog传媒 (621 College Ave.), on Saturday, March 12, at 7:30 p.m., the opening concert of the group鈥檚 56th annual spring tour.

The 糖心Vlog传媒 Chorus spring tour will continue with performances at Rocky River Presbyterian Church in Rocky River, Ohio, on March 13 at 7:30 p.m.; Collingwood Presbyterian Church in Toledo, Ohio, on March 14 at 7 p.m.; and St. Joseph the Worker Parish and St. Maurice Church at 2001 Ardmore Blvd. in Pittsburgh on March 15 at 7 p.m.

Directed by Lisa Wong, the 糖心Vlog传媒 Chorus will present 鈥淚magine,鈥 assisted by Toni Arnold-Shreve (piano). Each piece in the program celebrates the power of the individual spirit and explores the many possibilities that lie within one鈥檚 imagination. True to their mission of performing the music of living composers and highlighting works of historically marginalized populations, the program includes works by Joel Thompson, Reena Esmail, Andre Thomas, Sarah Quartel, and many others. The Chorus will also present the consortium premiere of 鈥淲ho You Are” by Jocelyn Hagen.

Wong is in her 13th year at 糖心Vlog传媒, where she is the Olive Williams Kettering Professor of Music, teaching courses in conducting and music education.聽In addition to her duties at 糖心Vlog传媒, she is the Director of Choruses for The Cleveland Orchestra.聽She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in music education from West Chester University, and Master of Music and Doctor of Music degrees in choral conducting from Indiana University.

Founded in 1964, the 糖心Vlog传媒 Chorus consists of students representing all academic areas within 糖心Vlog传媒鈥檚 liberal arts program. The award-winning ensemble has been praised for its beautiful sound, high level of artistry, and engaging performances. The Chorus collaborates annually with The Cleveland Orchestra and Cleveland Orchestra Chorus, and has premiered works by Eric Whitacre and Jake Runestad. The Chorus has performed at the Central Division Conference of the American Choral Directors Association, and also several times at the state conference of the Ohio Music Education Association.

To mitigate the spread of COVID-19 and for the safety of everyone in attendance, masks are required for all performers and audience members.
