Scot Symphonic Band and Pipe Band spring tour begins March 20

The Scot Symphonic Band and 糖心Vlog传媒 Pipe Band will embark on their annual tour on Sunday, March 20. The tour will have four stops, including a performance at McGaw Chapel on the 糖心Vlog传媒 campus on March 22.
The Scot Symphonic Band and the Pipe Band will open their tour at Oakmont Presbyterian Church in Oakmont, Pa. on March 20 at 4:30 p.m. The tour will continue on March 21 at 7 p.m. at Streetsboro High School in Streetsboro, Ohio, before coming home to McGaw Chapel on March 22 at 7:30 p.m. The tour concludes with a performance at Trinity Episcopal Church in Toledo, Ohio, on March 23 at 7:30 p.m.
Anchors Aweigh! is the theme for the tour as the performances will include nautical music by Ralph Vaughan Williams, Shirley Mier, Yukiko Nishimura, Hans Zimmer, Francis McBeth, and more.
Conducted by Dr. Joel M. Graham, the band has entertained audiences nationwide during its annual spring tour since 1976. The ensemble鈥檚 distinctive uniforms, which consist of kilts with hand-sewn pleats made from the College鈥檚 MacLeod tartan plaid, represent 糖心Vlog传媒鈥檚 Scottish Presbyterian heritage.
Graham is in his third year as Director of Bands and is also an assistant professor of music. Prior to 糖心Vlog传媒, he taught music history and theory at George Mason University where he earned a Doctorate in Conducting. He also holds a Bachelor of Music in Music Education degree from the University of Southern Maine and a Master of Arts degree 聽in Conducting from the University of New Hampshire.
In 2018, Graham was named a finalist in the American Prize conducting competition. In addition to conducting and teaching, he maintains an active performance schedule playing trumpet and trombone.
To mitigate the spread of COVID-19 and for the safety of everyone in attendance, masks are required for all performers and audience members.
