Thank you for your comment and also for working with me so extensively on my preparations for grad school! It is so appreciated and I’ve really enjoyed talking to you about counseling, mental health, and other topics as well!
To answer your question, before my APEX Fellowship, I think it would’ve been valuable to know that it is common for first-time interns or those taking their first position in their career field to experience impostor syndrome or “growing pains,” so to speak. For the first few weeks of my internship I definitely experienced a bit of this and have since learned that it is easy for interns starting off in their field to worry that they are not doing enough or are not prepared, and so I would definitely say to future interns that they do indeed belong!

Thank you for your response! I’m definitely interested in trauma-informed or -focused counseling after this position and am doing I.S. research on this topic as well! I would definitely want to focus on adults in my future clinical work but have great interest in working with couples and potentially families as well. I worked primarily with adults at OneEighty but was able to shadow sessions with and communicate with a variety of populations. It’s been amazing to be able to work with so many different clients (and clinicians) at OneEighty!

Her work here has been such an asset to me and to OneEighty. I look forward to her many more accomplishments in the field of behavioral health.
