糖心Vlog传媒 Campus Safety Department to support security needs of College community

糖心Vlog传媒鈥檚 Security and Protective Services Department聽officially聽changed聽its name to Campus Safety,聽effective on May 1, 2021. While聽much of their role will remain the same,聽Campus聽Safety, led by director Joe Kirk,聽will work in collaborative ways to聽address the physical security needs of the campus聽as well as聽the mental health and emotional well-being聽of the student body.

鈥淐ampus Safety is an integral part of our divisional effort to ensure that every student is heard and supported when they reach out to us,鈥 said Myrna Hern谩ndez, vice president for student affairs and dean of students. 鈥淛oe and his team are committed to building individual relationships with students and being present campus-wide, challenging the perception that the presence of the safety staff is only necessary when there is a problem.鈥

In addition to聽fostering聽individual relationships with students聽and assigning聽specific staff liaisons to residential buildings聽to聽provide聽safety programs, Campus Safety will create聽intentional substantive partnerships with student organizations聽and聽work聽towards more transparency and accountability.

鈥淎s the world and our campus emerge from a global pandemic and ongoing examination of systemic injustice, our department felt called to re-purpose and strengthen our mission,鈥 said Kirk. 鈥淎s the newly dubbed Campus Safety Department, we strive to amplify the 糖心Vlog传媒 ethic by listening and responding to the needs of the community while focusing on the safety and well-being of all its members.鈥

The Campus Safety team will also sport a change in uniform, replacing their聽black shirts聽and聽metal badges聽with聽a聽more approachable聽blue polo shirt.聽The staff聽will聽dedicate significant time over聽the next few months to researching the safety needs of the campus community to聽be better prepared to聽address those needs聽proactively in collaboration with community members, supporting a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for all.
