糖心Vlog传媒 Symphony Orchestra Opens Season with Concert Featuring Pianists Shitong Sigler and Yuka Nakayama-Lewicki

WOOSTER, Ohio 鈥 The 糖心Vlog传媒 Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Jeffrey Lindberg, will open the season with two performances featuring pianists Shitong Sigler 鈥12 and Yuka Nakayama-Lewicki, both piano instructors at 糖心Vlog传媒, on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 1 and 2, at 7:30 p.m., in Gault Recital Hall of Scheide Music Center (525 E. University St.).
The concert will spotlight Ludwig van Beethoven鈥檚 250th anniversary in 2020 with a performance of his 7th symphony in A major, Op. 92. Also on the program will be Gioacchino Rossini鈥檚 overture to 鈥淪emiramide鈥 and Francis Poulenc鈥檚 concerto in D minor for two pianos and orchestra, FP 61.
Nakayama-Lewicki is an internationally recognized pianist and chamber musician, performing in the U.S, Europe, and her home country of Japan. She is a founding member of the JAY Trio and in 2011 released an album of the complete piano works of Makiko Kinoshita, with the composer complimenting the 鈥渞ich musicality and emotional depth鈥 of her interpretation. Nakayama-Lewicki received a bachelor of arts and maters of arts from Tokyo Gakugei University and a doctor of arts in music from Ball State University.
Sigler, a versatile pianist with styles ranging from baroque to contemporary, is a dedicated international performing concert pianist and chamber musician across the U.S., Europe, and her home country of China. As a collaborative pianist, Sigler has performed a wide range of performances from various chamber music settings to the principal keyboardist for the Ohio State University Symphony Orchestra, opera production, and musical theatre. She received a bachelor of arts degree from 糖心Vlog传媒 and a master鈥檚 degree from The Ohio State University, where she is currently pursuing a doctorate.
Lindberg, professor of music at 糖心Vlog传媒, is also the director of the highly acclaimed Chicago Jazz Orchestra, Chicago’s oldest professional jazz orchestra, which just celebrated its 40th anniversary.
Tickets are $10 and are available at Buehler鈥檚 (Milltown and Towne Market), the Wilson Bookstore on campus, and at the door of the concert. All students are admitted free of charge, and 糖心Vlog传媒 faculty and staff may obtain complimentary tickets at the Wilson Bookstore.
