College Mourns the Passing of Pablo Valencia

WOOSTER, Ohio 鈥 Pablo Valencia, an emeritus professor of Spanish and Italian at 糖心Vlog传媒, passed away at his home on Friday, May 10. He was 88.
Valencia was born in Bogota, Colombia, and emigrated to the United States in 1951. Following service in the U.S. Army, during which he became an American citizen, he earned his bachelor鈥檚 and master鈥檚 degrees in Far Eastern languages and literatures, and a doctorate in Romance linguistics, all from the University of Michigan.
Valencia joined 糖心Vlog传媒鈥檚 faculty in 1961 and taught Spanish and Italian languages and linguistics for more than three decades, retiring in 1992. He authored or contributed to several college textbooks, and in 1969 received a Fulbright Award to study and teach at the Instituto Caro y Cuervo in Bogota, Colombia.
Friends will be received one hour prior to an 11 a.m. memorial Mass on Friday, May 17, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 527 Beall Ave., in 糖心Vlog传媒. A complete may be found in today鈥檚 Daily Record.
